The NexiGo N60 1080p webcam has fixed focus and a wide 110° view, so it’s for callers who sit back. Skip it if you lean in close or hold papers up to the lens. You can set up the N60 1080p webcam from NexiGo with one free USB port, but NexiGo offers its software only for Windows and Mac.
What you get with the NexiGo N60 webcam
Out of the box, the N60 is a USB webcam with a built-in microphone, a clip for a monitor or laptop, and a privacy cover. It works on Windows, a Mac, ChromeOS, Linux and Android.
| Spec | NexiGo N60 |
|---|---|
| Video | 1920 × 1080 at 30 fps |
| View | 110° diagonal |
| Focus | Fixed |
| Lens | 3.6mm glass |
| Microphone | Built-in, noise-canceling, omnidirectional |
| Privacy cover | In the box |
| Mount | Clip for a monitor or laptop, 30° tilt, 360° rotation |
| Cable | 4.9 ft, USB 2.0 or 3.0 |
| Systems | Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11, Mac OS X 10.7 or later, ChromeOS, Linux, Android 4.0 or later |
| App | NexiGo Webcam Settings, for Windows and Mac |
That 110° view is wide. It takes in a lot of what’s beside and behind you, which helps when two people share one laptop on a call. In a cluttered spare room, it works against you.
Who it’s for
The N60 is for someone who takes calls sitting back in a desk chair, not hunched toward the screen.
Windows and Mac owners get the full package, with NexiGo’s app and audio fix both on offer.
It’s also for anyone who wants a physical cover over the lens. The privacy cover blocks the lens when you’re not on a call, so no app can show your room by mistake.
The microphone is noise-canceling and omnidirectional, a mic type that picks up sound from all around it, not just from the person facing it. In a quiet room, that’s fine. At a busy kitchen table, though, a separate mic pointed at you picks up less of everyone else.
Check these before you buy the NexiGo N60 1080p webcam
Four quick checks tell you if the N60 will work at your desk.
- How far back you sit. The N60 can’t refocus. It’s fixed focus, with only one focal length. The two NexiGo spec pages give different focus ranges, but both start more than 15 inches from the lens. A face or a page held closer than that falls outside both.
- Which computer you use. NexiGo offers its Webcam Settings app for Windows and Mac only. On a Chromebook, Linux or Android, the NexiGo N60 still works as a 1080p webcam, but without the software you get the picture as it comes. If you want to fine-tune the picture there, skip it.
- Which ports you have. NexiGo lists USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports for the N60 but doesn’t say what shape its plug is. If your laptop has only USB-C ports, look at the plug in the product photos before you order. A flat, rectangular USB-A plug needs an adapter.
- Where the cable has to reach. It’s 4.9 ft long, so measure from the top of your monitor to a free port when your computer sits on the floor.
How to set up the NexiGo N60 webcam
To set up the NexiGo N60, clip the webcam to the top of your monitor or laptop lid and plug its cable into a USB port. There’s no driver to install. The camera tilts 30° and rotates 360°, so you can angle it down at your face from a tall monitor.
Then open your call app’s video settings and choose the NexiGo camera, which NexiGo lists as working with Zoom, Skype, Teams, FaceTime and OBS.
The NexiGo N60 1080p webcam software, Webcam Settings, is optional. It changes picture settings such as contrast. Focus isn’t one of them, since a fixed-focus lens has nothing to adjust.
What if your voice lags behind your video?
Install firmware V2.1.0_240129, which NexiGo lists for N60 audio lag. NexiGo offers its update tools for Windows and macOS only, so a Chromebook owner has to borrow a Windows PC or a Mac for the update.
Only run it if you have the problem. NexiGo says, “Unless you have issues with the camera, we don’t recommend any firmware updates,” and it asks you to email its support team when you aren’t sure. It also warns that “unauthorized firmware will cause damage to the operating system,” so get the file only from NexiGo’s N60 update page or its customer service.
Skip the N60 if one of these sounds like you
Each of these points to a better match.
- You lean in, write on paper or show products on camera. Fixed focus won’t follow you closer. Instead, the Logitech C920x has autofocus, so it refocuses as you move.
- You want a tight head-and-shoulders frame. One of the narrower cameras in the best webcam for video calls roundup frames you more tightly.
- You stream or record fast motion. The N60 stops at 30 fps, and the 1080p vs 4K webcam breakdown shows when 60 fps pays off.
NexiGo N60 webcam questions
Will the NexiGo N60 work with an iPad or iPhone?
NexiGo doesn’t list the N60 for iPad or iPhone. Its N60 compatibility list names computer systems and Android 4.0 or later, but not iPadOS or iOS. If you mostly take calls on an iPad, pick a webcam whose maker names iPadOS support.
Is the NexiGo N60 Pro the same webcam?
No. The NexiGo N60 Pro is a separate 4K model, with a 3840 × 2160 picture and 1080p at 60 fps. The N60 tops out at 1080p and 30 fps. Since the two names differ by one word, check for “Pro” in the full product name before you order.
